The Prime Directive in Star Trek is used in many storylines about the right to intervene when something really bad is about to happen.

Those sci-fi stories really prepared me for the moment when Jeffrey Goldberg decided to sacrifice Yemenis just living their lives when his fascist government decided to bomb them so he could profit off his journalism, then claim a capitalist variation of the prime directive that he was somehow just confirming the story with dead people.

Like it didn't matter people died.
