Clay works for me again — but only in the fresh air by the sea.
This seaslug/nudibranch was sculpted outdoors on Malibu Beach, with the salt breeze around me.

This is my first kiln firing in 1.5 years. It feels good to know that I am finally starting to get better. Although I've had to take drastic precautions and am creating in a completely different fashion to accommodate my illnesses, it feels so good to sink my hands in clay again.
A few years ago, when my husband and I spent a couple of months in India for his cancer treatment, we had the most amazing doctors and nurses taking care of him! As a small thank you gesture, I hand sculpted porcelain earrings and pendants for the nurses. Here is a pic of some of them.
A little golden-glazed baby sea dancer hanging on silk ribbon as a sculptural pendant. May it brighten your day.
May your Christmas shine with light and love!
Hi there. I know I've been away for a while. Life has been getting in the way of creating but I'm slowly getting back to it. Due to the move my studio isn't set up yet, so I decided to try something a little different - foam clay. Not sure what I think of it yet, but thought I'd give you an update anyway.
This hand-sculpted biomorphic ceramic sculpture with bronze glaze and inspired by nudibranchs and other seaslugs is currently is currently on show in the "Ripple Effect" exhibit and available for purchase at the Clay Center of New Orleans. https://nolaclayshop.square.site/product/enchantress-sea-dancer-series/708?cp=true&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=10

Happy international women's day! Wherever you are and whatever you are doing, I hope you take a moment to reflect on how far you've come along on your journey and all the positive things you've accomplished so far. Celebrate it - You deserve it
After almost 15 lovely years in Guam, we are starting a new chapter in Southern California. Here's to meeting new people, making more art, and most importantly, getting my family the medical help they need.
My last sunset in Guam
Saying goodbye to Guam, our friends, our house, and my studio has been very hard, but it's for a good cause. We're moving to the greater Los Angeles area for one of my family's medical needs that can't be solved in Guam. Guam and it's people have been an amazing home to us and we will be back.
I'm looking forward to the new challenges and friends I'll make along the way. Hope you'll tag along on this new journey with me.
Happy with my latest bisque firing. Now on to deciding which pieces will be glazed or left naked before the next firing .
Grateful and blessed to have supporters like you. If you celebrate the holiday, have a Happy Thanksgiving
Small porcelain offering bowl.
Porcelain, crushed turquoise inlay, resin coating
Just a little work in progress inspired by the Venus Girdle (Cestum Veneris), which is a ribbon-shaped comb jelly found in the Mediterranean Sea. I haven't figured out yet if I will be adding more to this one or letting it stand the way it is all nice and simple.
My sculptures are perfect for the easily-bored art enthusiast because these pieces can often be repositioned for a fresh new look. I should know because I switch up their positions all the time in my own house .
