#Transport for #London (TfL) employees and those of its operators (e.g., buses, DLR, Overground, Trams, and Elizabeth line) are entitled to free travel on #TfL services, excluding Thames Clipper and Cable Car. This long-standing benefit, predating TfL’s formation in 2000, helps attract and retain staff with minimal impact on revenue.
Retired staff (50+ with 20+ years of service) can access a Retired Staff Oyster card, with one nominated family member also eligible. A Freedom of Information request revealed the following pass distribution: 27,573 staff passes, 20,799 nominee passes, and 25,095 retired staff passes. Employees of non-TfL companies in the TfL family also receive passes. The total number of passes issued is 148,844, with no free travel passes for the GLA family.
Further details on PTAC passes issued were also provided under a Freedom of Information request.
