All because somebody is mad about trade deficits. Btw a “trade deficit” is fancy words for “the rich country buys all the stuff.” That’s why the standard of living was higher in the U.S. than other places - you have the money to buy all the stuff. If this doesn’t end soon, you’ll have neither.

I saw a post where a small business owner was quoted as saying “We’ve effectively been told to cease U.S. operations entirely.” - yes, that’s *exactly* what this is.

That’s something lots of American folks don’t seem to understand about tariffs and what they are for:

You’re not expected to pay them.

You’re expected to be unwilling or unable to buy foreign-made things anymore.
