MoaniI’ve started the Hawaiian “Alphabet” unit in the uTalk app. I’m disappointed that the voices give the name of each letter but the graphic only has the appearance of the letter itself, not the name. At first you just get the one intro pack, but as you start using it, it gives you “uCoins” for different accomplishments, and you can use those uCoins to buy quite a few more packs. I used it for free for at least six months before I finally tossed it a little extra money to get some more packs. But the greatest thing is there are NO ADS in the free trial!

At the beginning I thought it was a little goofy, but looking back I would say, it’s just that they chose a goofy set of sentences in the starter pack. (Not sure if they use the same starter pack for all their languages or not, I am only doing Hawaiian.) My assessment now is that it is a very high quality <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/languageLearning" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#languageLearning</a> app and I am amazed that I haven’t had to pay anything yet!

MoaniI am finally getting into the groove of using the app uTalk. At first I thought it was slow paced and kind of bizarrely structured, but once I got used to the format, it’s a really helpful vocabulary builder. It also provides pronunciation practice, which my other two apps don’t. (Also, it no longer seems slow. Did it speed up since that first time I tried it over a year ago?)
