Der Balfrin Gipfel mit dem Balfringletscher im letzten Sonnenlicht des Tages. Wir waren auf der gegenüberliegenden Talseite unterwegs und das Abendlicht hat die eingefrohrenen und vergletscherten Bergflanken in magisches Licht getaucht. Die Wolken über den Gipfeln haben ihre Schatten über die Szene gestreut und so hat sich das Balfrin-Massiv in seiner ganzen Schönheit gezeigt. Wer genau hinschaut, der kann im Vordergrund noch die Seetal-Bergstation, unterhalb des Seetalhorns, vom Skigebiet in Grächen erkennen.

The Balfrin summit in the last sunlight of the day. We were on the opposite side of the valley and the evening light bathed the frozen and glaciated mountain flanks in magical light. The clouds above the peaks scattered their shadows across the scene, revealing the Balfrin massif in all its beauty. If you look closely, you can still make out the Seetal mountain station, below the Seetalhorn, from the ski resort in Grächen in the foreground.

Hochalpine Berglandschaft. Berggipfel mit umgebendem Gletscher und Felspartien im Vordergrund. Das Licht ist metallisch-blau, die Abendsonne taucht die Berggipfel in ein fahles Licht. Oberhalb der Berggipfel sieht man dunkle Wolkenfetzen und unterhalb der Gipfel ist - ganz klein - eine Sessellift-Bergstation zu erkennen. --- High alpine mountain landscape. Guten Montagmorgen an alle hier!

Gestern war ein kleiner Ausflug ins "Nachbardorf" angesagt. Abendrot und Föhnfische haben für eindrückliche Stimmung gesorgt. Balfrin, Riedgletscher und Nadelgrat vom Norden her gesehen.

Berglandschaft im Wallis: Blauer Himmel mit Föhnfischen über den Berggipfeln des Mischabel-Massivs. Die Berge sind noch eingeschneit, die Baumgrenze unterhalb ist dunkel-braun.
Abendrot über der Mischabelkette, gesehen von Norden her. Man sieht den Balfringipfel, eingeschneit und vergletschert, als auch das Dirruhorn, Hohbärghorn und Stecknadelhorn, wie die Flanken von der letzten Sonne des Tages tief rot gefärbt sind. Im Himmel, über den Berggipfeln sind die Föhnfische ebenfalls ganz mystisch in sanftes Rot eingefärbt.
Berglandschaft: Die eingeschneiten und vergletscherten Berggipfel von Dirruhorn, Hohbärghorn und Stecknadelhorn ziehen sich in einer Reihe dem Riedgletscher entlang. Die Szene ist in sanftes Abendlicht getaucht; das Licht zaubert einzelne Lichtkegel in die Berglandschaft.

Wenn man einen Wanderweg in einem Gletschervorfeld anlegt, muss dieser immer wieder verschoben werden. So befinden sich Markierungen manchmal mitten im Bach.

If you create a hiking trail in a glacier foreland, it has to be moved again and again. Markings are sometimes in the middle of the river.

Another "Interrailing through Switzerland" post: a long trip awaited me on Friday: I took the Glacier Express from Zermatt via Brig, Andermatt, Disentis/Mustér and Chur to Tiefencastel, changed to regional trains and ended up in Davos where I stayed for another two nights.

The ride on the Glacier Express was comfy and often scenic, but sadly the fog around the Oberalppass prevented me from taking pictures.

At Davos I tried cross-country skiing, which I havent't done since being a small child. After roughly 10 kilometers I felt my aching muscles but had lots of fun!
Of course there was also time for some winter hiking.
