If you take it seriously, the implications are mind-boggling. If you discover the war, you're probably living in a timeline that was altered to create your reality. How do you justify potentially destroying it? Almost every move you make will be known by your enemy in the future.
#YesterdaysEnterprise, #CityOnTheEdgeOfForever, and #YearOfHell are examples of self contained eps where this kind of story plays out.
But over the course of a whole season it feels silly.
