They’re only good for events and local stuff (to the extent they’re not hijacked). Phronk@kvl@social.lol I can see the benefits of <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/yxu" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#yxu</a>, but I always lean toward a solution that’s easily readable by humans inside and outside the city, without having to Google it. <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/ldnont" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#ldnont</a> isn’t perfect in that regard either, but I’ve lived here most of my life and would have to look up the airport code. Sometimes I see airport hashtags from Regina or something and have to think, is that London’s? If not, which city is it? Guess I’ll go look it up and completely forget what the tweet was even about.
