I've noticed something that I think is worth pointing out: pretty much ALL of the pushback I have gotten on LinkedIn over the past few months over stories critical of this administration has come from men in IT. Many of whom no doubt idolize Musk, who in their minds can walk on water.

Conversely, the response almost universally I've seen from female non/male people in IT and security professionals on LinkedIn has been a great deal more appropriate, i.e. horror, disgust and revulsion for the way this administration is treating federal employees, veterans, the courts, judges, lawyers, journalists, and important, long-standing U.S. policy interests.

I guess what I'm saying is nobody should expect the men in IT to lead the resistance. So many of them are like this guy: angry, aggressive, and really excited about the good old US of A going back to the 80s. Like the 1880s.

@briankrebs If it makes you feel any better, it seems like Hacker News has completely turned on these fucks. When they do allow a post through, it's just pure hate on the admin with one or two guys who get shit on.

@apodoxus What do you mean? Hacker News seems to bin most stories that even come close to "political" lately.

@briankrebs It does bin most, but not all. When they do make it through the filter, the sentiment is overwhelmingly negative against the Trump Administration. There are often only a couple pro-DOGE/Trump comments, those ones are down-voted to the point of grey and usually attacked.

The exceptions I see are for articles about SpaceX where Elon still seems to have fans somehow.

There's also been an uptick of labor activism; meanwhile anti-trans stuff is shut down pretty fast now too. Surprising.

@apodoxus @briankrebs Yep noticed the same thing. I think what's hard is that a lot of the political stuff is "flagged" by those pro-Trump, and a moderator need to come down and un-flag it to allow the convo to continue, and it is rare.
But yep if this is allowed, its overwhelmingly against Trump and Elon

@jerome @briankrebs You can just email dang and he'll unflag it kf its interesting enough.

@briankrebs @apodoxus yeah, it used to be close to 100%. now a few occasionally get through

@briankrebs @apodoxus It's weird... I see a lot of anti-Elon/rump/etc on HN now, but it seems like it goes in waves between that and the dipshits complaining about woke.

It's almost like they work different shifts.

@RenewedRebecca @briankrebs I don't think these things are mutually exclusive at all. A more nuanced point of view is possible, where they find the current style of politics of the left hostile while sharing many of the same goals and seeing the admin as the fascist machine it is. The latter is kind of hard to ignore for someone even marginally educated and conscious.

@apodoxus @briankrebs I've also noticed this on HN a month ago. Before that, comments were insufferable to read when it came to politics. Now it feels like the audience has got more mature somehow.

@partysam @apodoxus @briankrebs they're not more mature, its just reached the 'find out' stage of voting for Nazis and suddenly it's important not to have Nazis in charge

@apodoxus @briankrebs I'd put really good money that most such people are the very kind that have made me hate the whole industry and my entire career. They are IT because that's the easiest way to make a fast, lazy buck. They couldn't care less about any of it and will destroy those who do--inside and out if you let them.

Dumb as hell--don't even know what RTFM stands for and couldn't if they did--and just selfish assholes to the core.
