@dcdeejay@mastodon.onlineI think the reason Trump won in 2024 & the reason removing him will take a sacrifice that most Americans aren't prepared to make, is that the right has figured out how to make themselves seem inevitable, invulnerable & ubiquitous by amplifying & inflating their actual public support to appear greater than it is. It's why they throw $$$ at AI, Meta is a black box, Musk bought twitter, they invented Newsmax & OAN, and the admin has pulled tech in tight.
It's a self-sustaining mirage.
Don't get me wrong - MAGA has lots of support. But the masses believe the nonsense they are told because the podcast guy assures them that it makes sense, the AM talk radio team assures them it makes sense, and every night Fox Primetime brings it home.
Add in the social media algorithms designed to keep them engaged with like minded people AND an unknown amount of paid trolls and AI...you could make anyone believe anything with a skilled team & big enough digital marketing budget.

Both #Biden & #Obama knew about #Trump's #Russia connections — much more and much sooner than any of us did.
Both knew about #FoxNews poisoning the minds of our troops on military bases.
But neither did enough to WARN us — the public — much less protect us from all enemies, domestic and foreign.
#HillaryClinton at least had the courage to face him in the eye and tell it like it was, but #POTUS bully pulpit failed.

Dropping the ball on bringing insurrectionists and national security thieves to justice — even with a clear mandate and bipartisan support after Jan6. Or disappearing with election contributions, only to hobnob with investors. Or voting with opposition on bills which they didn't even deign to get your input on
