After concluding my trip from #Amsterdam to #Brussels
today, I post a few more pictures highlighting some design elements and the livery of the #NS #ICNG-B. They are the new generation 200 kph trainsets which provide an hourly, and fast, service between the two cities.
Okay so #NS presented the new #DDNG train to the public today. With a mockup they gave some first impressions of the interior. I have to say I am not that impressed. Like with the #ICNG it has the looks of it they tried to fit all kinds of wishes in one train. Let me elaborate in this thread. All images I use are courtesy of NS btw and can be found here: https://nieuws.ns.nl/ns-presenteert-nieuwe-dubbeldekker/
ICNG news update:
All rejected #ICNG trainsets have finally left the Netherlands, for repair in Poland or Switzerland. The latest to leave was 3303. All sets now in the Netherlands are approved or being approved at the moment
ICNG-V is also no longer allowed in solo operation during time table period 6 (October-december) on a couple of lines because of detection problems, including Tilburg - Boxtel. This is not new, SNG and FLIRT also have this restriction during leaf fall season. ICNG-VIII does have four powered bogies, and isn't suffering from the same problem.
From December on, #NS #Alstom #Coradia #ICNG (for #InterCity New Generation) units will provide fast hourly services between #Brussels and #Amsterdam
. They are currently performing test runs. (Trivia: the bathroom decor comes with a Belgian touch. Here: Zeebrugge beach.)
Trains seen at #Rotterdam station earlier today: #ICNG-B unit #3320 (with #Alstom technicians on board, in view of the certification of this brand new trainset I guess) and #ICM #4210, originally named “Koploper”, before the front doors were sealed off.
April 1985: Belgian class 25.5 electrics were operating #Brussels to #Amsterdam
push-pull trainsets with #NMBS and #NS cars. These trains are long gone.
New #Alstom 200 kph #ICNG-B EMUs will soon perform 32 Brussels to Amsterdam round trips daily. Travel time: two hours.

Great news! #ICNG 3101 to 3132 needed repairs because of flawed welds. The first of these overhauled trains is now in service: 3115 is doing its first passenger trains ever today!

Rumors have it the 3111 is following very soon, finally speeding up ICNG delivery.
Extra trains betw. #Brussels & #Amsterdam from the end of this year: 1 hourly fast train (#ICNG) betw. Bxl #MidiStation & ... #Lelystad via #AmsterdamZuid + 1 hourly classic IC (run by #NMBS) betw. Brussels & #Rotterdam via #ZaventemAirport, #Mechelen & #Breda.

As there are no more trains in the Netherlands this year, I've done the tally and this is my top 6 most used train sets for 2023:
6. #FLIRT TAG 2011 (7 times)
6. #SNG 2328 (7 times)
6. #SNG 2351 (7 times)
3. #SNG 2356 (8 times)
3. #SNG 3035 (8 times)
1. #ICNG 3222 (9 times)
Congratulations 3222, who was the first ICNG-VIII that went into passenger service on 19 March 2023
New train schedule means rolling stock changes.
Starting from tomorrow, #ICNG is to be primarily used by the ICD Breda - Amsterdam trains, and no longer in the IC Den Haag - Eindhoven trains. Current outlook is that Amsterdam - Breda can operate completely without TRAXX+ICR tomorrow, let's see if that will happen.
Net aangekondigd: IC Brussel-Amsterdan wordt doorgetrokken naar Berlijn en Warschau #Wschodnia, met #ICNG!
Just announced: IC Brussel Amsterdam to be prolonged to Berlin and Warsaw Wschodnia, with ICNG!
“Traction problems”, I just overheard from the cab. That’s me missing my connecting train home then. No biggie, I suppose, and they’re still testing the #ICNG
Edit: that’s our train cancelled. But, as luck would have it, my connecting train is also delayed and I’m already in the zone, with overlap. I’m calling mark room.
(Wait, sorry, no, I lapsed into sailing rules of racing there.)
