Israel has been bombing the hell out of anything south of Damascus. What is the role of Julani (aka al Sharaa) and his junta? Aligned with Israel and US? Yes, aligned and cooperating. He's allowed Damascus to fall to Israel (and US). Julani is a pawn, his job is to give away Syria's territory to Israel.
Also, on Ba'athism, secular and multicultural Syria, arguably an anti-imperialist state, now defunct.
