Bok
I go to register my new #treadmill's warranty. It says to enter the identification code "located on the exterior of the toolkit packaging". Except the tools just come in a plain resealable plastic bag with no stickers on it. I'm hoping that the sticker on the shipping box matches the nonexistent sticker on the toolkit bag.

Then it has a list to check off the model name, offering three choices I'd never heard of. At least their website mentions the names for the three models they sell in the detailed specs, because the names aren't mentioned in the main listings.

No clue if the base #warranty is worth anything. Offbeatmammal
Something bugging me of late - small consumer electronics, like #phones, #smartwatches, or #smartrings. Why is a 1 year #warranty acceptable. The only message that sends is that the $500-$2000 price tag is an annual expense and screw the sustainability. When a company like Garmin (not to pick on them especially) says "built to last" on their About Us, but stands by a product for a year I call bullshit. We should demand better, and have laws that require better.

amen zwa, esq.
Nowadays, we're seeing expensive machines with "one-year #warranty" that fail on the 366th day of operation. That is precision #engineering, what with AI-guided designs and parallel MTBF simulations.

This sort of advanced techniques should have been used to extend the life of the product, instead of making it fail just after the warranty period.

I miss the 1960s (no, the 19th Century), when engineers over engineer the product for safety and longevity, since their slide rules couldn't make all those "high-precision" calculations.
