Was hoping to shot cool photos at the concert using my Viltrox AF 75mm F1.2 Pro XF because it has an aparture as wide as F1.2.<br>
Results were not so good because of F1.2. For moody shots like this one - great. But for cool band shots - a wider angle and smaller apartures 5.6 or so would have been better I believe.<br>

srfaudio<p>One of the most difficult parts of my transition to <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> still revolves around creative tasks. </p><p>Background: former professional musician/photographer/videographer, now cloud software engineer. </p><p>I daily drive a flavor of <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@fedora" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>fedora</span></a></span>. For all of my development projects, and for day to day tasks, it works fantastic, and to be fair, these days, that covers 80% of my computer usage. </p><p>But I do still want to do some of my creative activities when the mood strikes. </p><p>This is something that a lot of Linux enthusiasts don't want to hear, but <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/macos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>macos</span></a> is still, far and away, a better experience when doing <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/photography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>photography</span></a>, <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/musicproduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>musicproduction</span></a> or <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/videoediting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>videoediting</span></a>. It is frictionless and well-integrated across devices, which is exactly what you want when you're in the mood to do a project. </p><p>Now, I'll own my bias here: at least 30-40% of this feeling is *also* due to familiarity. I was a MacOS power user for almost 20 years. I'm used to it's workflow, and I know exactly how to execute what I want. </p><p>For example: for daily software development tasks, I'm actually more comfortable in Linux than MacOS, by a very small margin. It's because I've been using it so much every day, and now my familiarity for those apps is high.</p><p>But the rest? It's legitimately smoother. </p><p>This morning, my struggle is with my <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/raw" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>raw</span></a> photo workflow.</p><p>I take pictures with my phone, my <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/fuji" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>fuji</span></a> <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/xt4" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>xt4</span></a>, and my <a href="https://defcon.social/tags/gopro" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>gopro</span></a>. For the RAW photos on the Fuji, I do some editing to get the look that I want. </p><p>I also want to start self hosting, and I want to retain my RAW edits, without making double storage of RAW + edited .jpeg export. </p><p>To accomplish this using Linux is 100% possible...but will absolutely require some compromises in different areas of my preferred workflow...none of them really satisfying.</p><p>My point is, it has the net effect of adding this background mental friction to doing creative stuff that I normally enjoy.</p><p>That's a very real downside to this journey, that I'm still working through.</p>
