Brian SmallI saw the sunrise, or hints of it, in spite of myself this morning. After remembering that I forgot to close the chicken cages for safety, I had to run out to see if they'd been eaten over the night. I think they all survived.. Unless one was taken from a brooding box and that's why the chicks and one hen were back over the eggs where there is usually one hen while the chicks and another hen are by the entrance... I'll have to look into it more later.. But it wasn't a nightmarish massacre of the sort you hear about, where all the cickens in the coop are laid out in a row with the blood drained out of their neckes.. So since I was out while it was still too dark for the chickens to come out and eat, I closed up their cages and went walking with Maron the Shiba Dog. We got down to the river and saw some pastel-colored clouds before the sun showed herself over the mountains... . <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/SunriseAlmost?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#SunriseAlmost</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/PastelCoulds?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#PastelCoulds</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/SilkyChickens?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#SilkyChickens</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/烏骨鶏?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#烏骨鶏</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/霧島?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#霧島</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/沖水川?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#沖水川</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/三股町?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#三股町</a>

Brian SmallI usually walk with the dog(Maron) to Hieda Park next to a little river. But when it's not too hot it's nice to walk down to the bigger river (OkiMizu River). There are two parks(NakaBaru Park and ShinBaBab Park) on the way to the river. ShinBaBa park had a downed tree too. This tree's trunk has been getting hollow for a while, it seems. I remember noticing it before: Not the sort of tree you want to place a tent under. A few months ago(last year?) a young couple died at a camp site when an ailing tree fell on their tent. <br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/TyphoonDownedTree?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#TyphoonDownedTree</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/MimataCho?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#MimataCho</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/ShinBaBaPark?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#ShinBaBaPark</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/三股町?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#三股町</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/三股町新馬場公園?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#三股町新馬場公園</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/新馬場公園の木?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#新馬場公園の木</a>

Brian SmallWe got down to the lower lower dam after parking at the bridge. It's lazy to drive and not walk but walking in rubber boots can't be good for your legs and I wanted to be more sure we'd visit both lower dams and the bridge dam. Brian SmallHot Sunday afternoon for running errands but the top of this park, Mimata Town's KamiYone Park (or Kabayama Park after the remains of the Kabayama Castle here?), was nice and cool. I'll have to remember to come here in August and see if there is still a nice, cool breeze coming up through the trees with that pleasant humus, composting leaf litter smell... Might need mosquito coils or something in the summer though, but it might be a nice place to breathe and read during the most punishing times of summer..<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/MimataTown?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#MimataTown</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/MaronTheShiba?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#MaronTheShiba</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/KamiYonePark?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#KamiYonePark</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/KabayamaPark?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#KabayamaPark</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/三股町?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#三股町</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/柴犬?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#柴犬</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/上米公園?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#上米公園</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/樺山公園?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#樺山公園</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/樺山城?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#樺山城</a>

Brian SmallThanks to the dog I hang out at this park almost everyday, often twice in one day. The chickens get us up early so it's easy to appreciate the trees in the morning before anybody else is in the park. This one ginkgo nut tree must be having a mast year or something. It's fun to collect the seeds (nuts?) before their covering turns yellow and stinky. I cast them around, bury them with Maron's poop. Maybe a few more cooling trees will arise from the playfulness?? It used to be fun to throw black walnuts around Tyler State Park.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/MimataTown?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#MimataTown</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/HietaPark?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#HietaPark</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/GinkgoTree?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#GinkgoTree</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/GinkgoNuts?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#GinkgoNuts</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/三股町?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#三股町</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/稗田公園?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#稗田公園</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/三股稗田公園?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#三股稗田公園</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/銀杏?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#銀杏</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/銀杏の木?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#銀杏の木</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/銀杏?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#銀杏</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/銀杏の身?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#銀杏の身</a>

I let her loose for a while. She ran off, came back and jump-raced around with seeming joy. So I let her go off again. And she went out of sight for a while. I was imagining my regret if I had to look for her the rest of the day, or if she ended up caught in a boar trap, or if I'd have to pay 5,000 yen to the dog-catching authorities... But she came racing back and sat down when I called and mouth-clucked for her. Maybe we'll get used to being off-leash in the forest little by little. We probably need to get more familiar with the area, I saw one entrance to a boar trap: the muddy trail into the forest and the paper tacked to a tree were tell tale signs. I didn't go check it out this time with Maron. The last time I check one out, to read the trappers name and phone number I set the trap off. Felt bad about that and wondered if I should call, but a few days later the trap was reset... and I avoided messing it up... But with a dog it would be harder to keep from disturbing the careful work that goes into setting up a trap.. And now people have to do the predator work that could have been left to the wolves if they had not be driven (poisoned? dog-diseased? dog-fornicated?) to extinction.<br> <br> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/三股町?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#三股町</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/三股町上米公園?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#三股町上米公園</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/尾根散歩?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#尾根散歩</a> <a href="https://pixelfed.social/discover/tags/上米尾根散歩?src=hash" class="u-url hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#上米尾根散歩</a>
