Question for chicken owners, out of curiosity: what do you think the ACTUAL price of a dozen eggs is from the backyard chickens?
Include: feed, enclosure/repairs, lost chickens from predators, vet visits, chicken retirement lodge, chicken sweaters and hats, etc etc? #chickens
@HayiWena@mastodon.online@ai6yr My friend spent several thousand on her chicken coop, but she also has about 20 chickens even though city code limits her to 5. She sells them for $10/dozen, maybe $12/dozen because her kid is 5 and he's the salesman so $1/egg is his level of math.
