boxd.itA ★★★★★ review of Alien (1979)Ripley & co take up the necessary arms against a bunch of slimy monsters on a far away planet, and how (!) .. does it get any creapier than this? (no, Gremlins does not count) S(ub)limy! An astronomical huge thank you to my brother, who was the movie fan/freak I turned out to become as well. I learned from him, great movies are not just about the Academy Awards, neither just about the Hollywood glam, or even the French nouvelle vague. Love for movies can be everywhere, and for any reason. As long as they linger on after watching them. Unfortunately,

@IngridHbn I used to co-run a cinema company. Despite all the world cinema and arthouse stuff on my top 10, top 20 lists, David Cameron's Aliens remains my most-watched movie of all time - and the extended cuts are even better.
Action films aren't even really my thing, let alone weird action thriller/horror/sci-fi crossovers. But if you want that, Alien and Aliens are as good as it gets. Unmatched.
I hope Ridley Scott stays true to the evolving lore, 'cos it's getting hella complicated.
