@jdskog which is the first one, about the Police procedure? Does anyone know at the top of their head?

@RedHyppo @jdskog Men at Arms checks quite a few of these boxes.

@slothdude Guards! Guards! is the first City Watch one, but it's more of a spoof on fantasy stereotypes, I'd say.

@RedHyppo

@jdskog @RedHyppo Yeah, but Met at Arms is where it really starts going in the direction described in the screencap. Although Feet of Clay might be an even better fit now that I think about it. Anyway, they are all good.

@slothdude @RedHyppo @jdskog The quote might be about all the first three of the Watch books?

The third "Or ..." is about racism and the third Watch book, Feet of Clay, has the racism against werewolves. I haven't read the other two.

Slothdude

@clacke @RedHyppo @jdskog Actually, the more I think about it, it might very well be about just Feet of Clay itself. In addition to the racism, it also introduces the gender stuff. But of course they are all good, and well worth the read.

@slothdude @clacke @RedHyppo @jdskog

Terry Pratchett was a VERY angry man, with the gift of making people see the underlying reason(s) for that anger, and consequently joining the fight against injustice in the real world.

..."but Vimes is no diplomat?"

..."He's the _reason_ for diplomats."

(Carpe Jugulum, I think, but similar effects in Jingo, not to mention Thud.)
