Going to try walking to Mordor soon.

Nineteen bags and the first of the three instructions booklets gives us the first level of the tower. There is a neat mechanism that makes the gates open in unison.

Also a huge mess.

Bags 20-27 build the second level, which slides in and clips to the base.

Bags 28 to 31 build up the throne room with secret doors that reveal the Palantír, and give us the Dark Lord himself.

Bags 32 and 33 finish the exterior, begin the top section, and give is everyone’s (Aragorn excluded) favourite diplomat.

Bags 34 to 39 finish the top section. Look at its floppy little ears! Only the Eye itself left to go…

Bag 40 finishes off with the great Eye itself, which is a truly delightful piece of Lego geometry.

Additional public service announcement. Before moving the set, reacquaint yourself with the exact specifics of where it’s split to sections. Guess who managed to accidentally dismantle half the thing trying to move it to its final display location above.

@exkclamation There is some repetition since it requires multiple identical or mirrored wall pieces, but it has been well designed to be built in several distinct stages, and there are some nice and surprising techniques here and there.

@slothdude and I had just talked myself out of getting one because I'm knee deep in builds around here... Oh well.

@slothdude @cpep Imagine all the wonderful spacecraft you can now build with this propulsion unit.
