This strange-looking plant is Drosera filiformis, commonly known as the thread-leaved sundew, native to Northern America. It looks beautiful when unfolding its sticky leaves in spring and will soon start catching insects as this is a carnivorous plant. I grow it in a little bog habitat in a larger container, together with other hardy and half-hardy sundews. #plants #sundew
@MyWildlifeAllotment That's a pretty plant. How hard is it to care for, say on a sunny balcony?
@ticho It is not difficult but it has certain needs. The plant grows in wet habitats so needs permanently wet peat soil which can be mixed with lime-free sharp sand. The pot/container needs to stand in a saucer filled with rain water or distilled water in summer, you cannot use tap water. And full sunshine would be good.
Oof, that's probably more care than what I am able to sustain. I can only grow something that can withstand a week of my absence, as I'm not always at home. :)
I guess I'll just look at the pictures you post. :)
@ticho You can grow succulents such as houseleeks, they don`t need much water and can survive without watering for weeks. And they look pretty as well.
