The harshest “penalty” Mongolia could face, according to the Assembly of participating states, is losing procedural privileges, including the right to nominate candidates for new judges at the International Court of Justice. Interestingly, in 2024, a Mongolian representative was elected to the Court for the first time in history, with a nine-year term.
Putin’s visit to Mongolia on September 3 marked his first visit to a Rome Statute member state since the ICC issued a warrant for his arrest in March 2023 for the abduction of Ukrainian children.
