Anna Schapiro
We have a new memory-based framework for thinking about replay, showing that a surprisingly large range of the characteristics of wake and sleep replay can be explained by simple memory mechanisms. Berna Devezer
One of my professors during PhD used to say “You can drive a truck through the holes in any given paper. So you look for what you *can* learn instead.” And being the smartass grad students we used to think driving that truck was fun. After so many years, I now appreciate her wisdom more than ever. All scholarly work has limitations but it’s refreshing when people critically evaluate what’s the actual value of the research. It's about humility, honesty, rigorous intellectual work.

Anna Schapiro
The period of uncertainty before this outcome was very tough, and I don’t know how I would have gotten through it without the support of several amazing breast cancer survivors in our field who helped me navigate both the medical and the professional impacts. If you are ever facing a diagnosis like this and think it could be useful to talk, please get in touch, I would love nothing more than to pay forward this kindness. 2/2

Anna Schapiro
This year threw me a curveball toward the end with a diagnosis of breast cancer. I have been in touch with many of you at different points in this process, and I wanted to share the latest: They were able to surgically remove the cancer in its entirety. I am extraordinarily lucky. 1/2
