I love them too!
Very clever birds. I watch two of them regularly when they steal food from our local fox.
It works every time. One will pick the tail of the fox and when the fox is annoyed and turns around, the second Magpie snatches the food from under the foxes nose.
There's a reason they are being called "the thieving Magpie" specifically in German
Especially since they like to go for shiny things
