Starting a new long distance travel by train, from the empty Spain through Europe. From Teruel to Berlin. Two days, three trains and a bus, with a night in a hotel.

I think that the train I take today afternoon will be the last one of the line Madrid - Marseille. If I am not wrong, from tomorrow there will be no direct train connecting the Spanish capital with any other country. The direct line from Madrid to Lisbon was also removed.

Slow[er] travelling has its own advantages. Stop in Zaragoza, time to have lunch with some friends before continuing north. I haven't been able to confirm yet if this, the train where I am now, is the last one of this service.

It seems that this service is actually going to be removed, but at some point in the future there will be new trains operated independently by Renfe and SNCF/Ouigo. Current train is operated in cooperation between both companies, and it seems that this cooperation is what comes to an end.
In the meantime it will be needed to switch trains in Barcelona, or something like this.

Sunrise over Avignon TGV station.
Lets see if there is any problem with the trains today. So far trains seem to be in time, the only wrong thing have been the warnings, but I guess it is soon to say🤞

By the way, something interesting about French train stations is that they use to have a piano that anyone can play. Once in Nimes I saw someone playing very early in the morning beautifully. .

Sunset from the train, passing through Frankfurt over the Main river.
