Yesterday Justin Trudeau revealed that agents of the Indian government murdered a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil. When Canadian Sikhs went to post about it on Facebook, the platform removed their posts as a violation of Indian law.
@parismarx Well that's bullshit!
@parismarx
Meanwhile on Twitter it's all about how he "wasn't a Canadian citizen"...like that somehow excuses foreign intelligence agencies from wacking people on our fucking soil.
Jesus, I fucking despise these tech billionaire MFers.
@clintruin @parismarx yeh among the many digusting takes posted that one the worst
@parismarx It is outrageous. When fires were ravaging my city (Kelowna), Facebook would not publish posts stating which neighbourhoods were on evacuation alert and order. It was absolutely dangerous.
the only solution is citizens meshes that bypass crooks corporations mafias networks ...
WiFi, Lora, radio meshes ...
@parismarx that's because Facebook is just a #fascism enabling #corporation, with the purpose of monetizing suffering by preventing authentic communication and enabling #capitalism
#FuckFacebook
#FuckOffCapitalists
The only #threads worth having are the ones in the form of a long #anti-capitalist rant. :)
If you can't hide the truth of an assassination in an effort to make more money then it means capitalism would die on the vine. Surely, the people of Planet Earth understand and will graciously accept that, right?
@parismarx Removed then restored. The whole story is different from your post.
@parismarx Curious if Facebook’s corporate code of conduct has overridden Canadian laws and if so where the final arbiter lies
@parismarx #Meta and #Musk need to go the way of the dodo bird. #EnoughIsEnough #BoycottMeta
@parismarx facebook's platforms are not social networks, they're algorithmic content + ad feeds that might show you posts from your friends if they are pleasing to zucc
Isn’t it time to stop billionaire control of important channels of information?
@parismarx I'm starting to think FB is bad for democracy. Why does anyone still use it?
@parismarx
Unfortunately I can't #DeleteFacebook a second time as I've never been back.
@parismarx It’s crazy that Facebook was censoring Canadian users posting from Canada because the government of India didn’t like their content. I’m glad this made the news and Facebook reversed their poor decision. It would be nice if Facebook just did the right thing up front and it didn’t take media attention to force the issue.
@parismarx Are we going to get Musk and Zuckerberg in the Octagon or what?
Let’s make it WWF style and throw some weapons in the ring as well.
@parismarx wait til the UK gov starts exercising the new powers _it's_ just got to control all social media and messaging systems (including email)! (In case you hadn't heard, E2E encryption's illegal in the UK now, because children.)
@parismarx @Alon Twitter somehow figured out — a decade ago — how to withhold content only in a single country.
(Of course; that was to let Nazis be Nazis except in Germany but… the solution was correct)
@parismarx Misleading headline. Further down, the article says that after review the pages were restored. I am not a fan either of Facebook (cancelled my account years ago) or the current gov't in India; but misleading headlines are . . . misleading.
