Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau confirms Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former defence minister Yoav Gallant will be arrested if they step foot in Canada after the ICC’s decision to issue arrest warrants.
The Rome Statute also requires ending non-essential contact, such as shipping munitions, even through 3rd parties like the USA.
Did the PM mention anything about that? (CTV and TORBrowser agree to disagree about the video player js.)
@parismarx That's easy. They know for a fact that he's not going to set foot in Canada.
Why don't they do the same they do when another terrorist commits comparable atrocities, going to fetch them from wherever they're hiding?
@parismarx Netanyahu is not Israel. Big loophole.
@MaybeMyMonkeys @parismarx
ICC prosecutes individuals for their part in international crimes, ICJ prosecutes Countries. No loophole.
Ok, good _start_. But if we, as a country, officially agree with the ICU's assessment that Bibi and Gallant are/have committed genocide/warcrimes such that they need to be arrested, why can we not as a country officially condemn the Israeli state, impose embargos, weapons restrictions, sanctions etc.?
I mean, its a rhetorical question, I know why. But the hypocrisy is deafening.
Sure, he is a war criminal…
@parismarx anti semitism is alive today :(
@SideWalkAstronomyNetherlands @parismarx It certainly is. However, an era of unsubstantiated Antisemitism smears has been brought to an end as the world sees the Palestinian people dehumanised and murdered by the Israeli state and its supporters.
@SideWalkAstronomyNetherlands a war-criminal is a war-criminal, no matter what Government, Country or Religious group they belong to - it has absolutely nothing to do with anti-semitism.
@parismarx Very glad to see this.
@parismarx I'm slightly staggered. It's actually a sign of ... I don't know what. What gets me is what took our idiot PM to finally consider that maybe bombing the ever-loving fuck out of civilians is a bit of a moral quandary and maybe, just maybe, not right.
Amazing.
@parismarx I think we also just abstained from something just last week condemning the bombings that most countries in the world not closely aligned with the US/Israel agreed to. Partial marks.
I don't have to search for PP's comments. They'll be the exact opposite of Trudeau's by default.
@parismarx Trudeau's mic shadows make it appear vaguely like he's lactating.
Well done Canada
@parismarx ... I kind of don't buy that, for he is one of them ... Unless the clone or actor wrote / said that ...
@parismarx Good for Canada
Finally some fucking /courage/.
@parismarx BeBe deserves the arrest warrant for war crimes against the Palestinian people, long time coming.
@parismarx I just … want to move to Canada. They have their idiots too, I know.
@parismarx I understand the gravity of the situation, but it looks like he has sweaty nipples.
@parismarx what a fucking twit
@parismarx positive surprise
