By Vatican News On March 22, 2025, Pope Francis appointed Archbishop Bernardito Auza as Apostolic Nuncio to the European Union. He succeeds Archbishop Noel Teanor who died in August 2024. Since October 1 2019, Archbishop Auza has served as Apostolic Nuncio to the Kingdom of Spain and the Principality of Andorra. Before that, he served as Apostolic Nuncio and Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the United Nations in New York. He was also Permanent Observer of the Holy See to the Organization of American States
