A favorite of mine: Don't Forget Me by Night Traveler. The song sounds like it came from the 80s, but it was released just five years ago. The band is a duo from Austin. #bedtimemusic

"Don't forget about me"
I say, "Don't forget about me"
Don't wanna lose the thing I love the most
I'm right here
So darling, don't you forget about me

This cover of The Magnetic Fields' Book of Love is beautiful. Recorded by Peter Gabriel, this tune was on his 2010 “Scratch my Back” LP.

The book of love has music in it
In fact, that's where music comes from
Some of it's just transcendental
Some of it's just really dumb
But I
I love it when you sing to me
And you
You can sing me anything

An amazing song and a lovely video: Xavier Rudd's Stoney Creek. Valeriya Gogunskaya is an internationally known longboard-dancer, and this video combines her grace, spectacular Portugal beauty, terrific videography and a terrific song.

'Cause baby, the wind is blowing
And there ain't no other place I'd rather be
And the wind owes me nothing
But it's blown me here with you
And it can blow until it's through

It's hard for me to believe it's been 40 years since I fell in love with this music. This is Mark Isham's "On the Threshold of Liberty." It was named after a Belgian painting by René Magritte. From 1996 through 2008, NPR used this music for the annual 4th of July reading of the Declaration of Independence on Morning Edition.

This song combines electronic and orchestral instruments and features Isham on flugelhorn. #BedtimeMusic

One of my favorite tunes: The World Spins Madly On by The Weepies. Deb Talan and Steve Tannen formed the duo, got married, got divorced, and now the band is no more. But together, they made magic.

I woke up and wished that I was dead
With an aching in my head
I lay motionless in bed
The night is here and the day is gone
And the world spins madly on

Another favorite tune I listen to at night. It has an 80s feel to from an Austin band that creates some great 80s-themed songs. This is Don't Forget Me. #bedtimemusic

We're getting older but we'll make it to midnight
Don't need you being alone
Don't you know you're the best part of my heartbeat
So much more than you know
You say, "Don't, forget about me"

Here's another tune that I listen to when I want to relax: Here She Comes Again by Röyksopp, a Norwegian electronic music duo. It's got a pulsing rhythm and mellow vocals. I love it until the last minute, which is annoying and discordant. (I wish music services allowed users to permanently crop songs, like we used to when making mixtapes in the old days.)

Who can stop the rain
Pouring down inside?
Who can keep her sane
Give her peace of mind?

Need a moment to relax? Here is Billie Eilish's lovely “Getting Older.” She and her brother, Finneas, are remarkable composers and artists. #BedtimeMusic

But next week, I hope I'm somewhere laughing
For anybody asking, I promise I'll be fine
I've had some trauma, did things I didn't wanna
Was too afraid to tell ya, but now, I think it's time

After today, I need some relaxing bedtime music. What about you? This is Radar, Far, Gone by M83. He's a composer who makes some great music, such as the soundtrack for the movie, Oblivion. Ignore the somewhat unsettling album cover image and enjoy this calming tune. #bedtimemusic

It's like you only talk in tears
It's like you know our fears, right?
Stop looking, come by
Here's our last chance to be friends
