This is an #acrylic #painting from a few years back. And just as I am posting this, I am reminded of the poem, "Alone" by #EdgarAllanPoe:
From childhood’s hour I have not been
As others were—I have not seen
As others saw—I could not bring
My passions from a common spring—
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow—I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone—

The traditional wooden houses along the Nieuwendammerdijk are an important part of the city’s architectural history. They reflect late

th-century working-class housing, with some influence from the Amsterdam School, known for its brickwork and decorative style.
These homes are rare because wood was banned in central Amsterdam after major fires in the 15th and 16th centuries.

Well, in Italian it is. Porta = Door. So, if you have any problems with that - take it up with the country of Italy.
Porta Castiglione was first built in the middle of the 13th century and then given a spruce in the 15th century. Back in the day, it was part of the city walls used to protect the centre - it was a machiocolated rampart (which means it was used for defensive purposes to keep undesirables out). Thankfully, it's not used for that purpose anymore, so now I can live here.
