Progress report.
I still haven’t had the courage to glue this together but the pieces are coming along. Even then, I can’t glue in the Fimo until the wood is finished properly. I made a second larger oval and glued it round the first to make beading. I’m also not sure if I can improve the tiny variation in the outside edges of my rows of tiles. Using 3000 wet/dry sand paper but I think once it is all mounted no one will even notice it.

Love these rather beautiful decorative tiles on a cast-iron fireplace in the hallway of a Victorian townhouse in the West End of Glasgow which has now been converted into flats.
DISASTER! It was all going far too well. My fire surround broke when I took it gingerly off the greaseproof paper -working on a fix. I have cut out tile indents and am refilling using liquid Fimo as glue! #Fireplace #PolymerClay #Dollshouse #No52 #WIP
Baby steps towards my fireplace: placing the tiles prior to baking them in to the surround. A few more choices to be made. The grey clay is representing grout and I will add black clay next for the fire surround. #DollsHouse #Fireplace #MakersHour

@MakersHour@cupoftea.social @makershour@a.gup.pe A1 I’m Janet and I have been sorting through my ‘best ever yet’ tiles for the most regular ones (rejects to the right, good ones to the left). I also made a fan-shaped centre tile but it is too big so I am going to make another. I neglected the step in the process where I measured it to see if it would fit. #dollshouse #fireplace #WIP #MakersHour
