Save the Winter Fuel Payment petition!

We believe as many as 2 million pensioners who find paying their energy bills a real stretch will be seriously hit by this cut:

- Those on low incomes who just miss out on #Pension Credit

- Those with high energy needs because of #disability or #illness

- 1 million who don’t receive #PensionCredit for which they are eligible.

campaigns.ageuk.org.ukSave the Winter Fuel Payment for struggling pensionersSign Age UK's petition. Cutting the Winter Fuel Payment this winter, with virtually no notice and no compensatory measures to protect poor and vulnerable pensioners, is the wrong policy decision.

Just had my energy provider try and stick me with a 10% increase in my direct debit.

I rang them, and without argument or much discussion, they immediately took it back down to its original level.

That was good but what struck me was this rapidity of action evinced the way they KNEW they were 'chancing their arm' and riping me off.

Don't put up with this citizens.

Advice from a friend on FB. Tl;Dr as we're heading into a winter of ridiculous fuel bills it's almost always cheaper to maintain your house at a steady slightly lower temp than it is to let your house get cold and be constantly trying to get it back up to temp.
Work out what the lowest comfortable temp is and block as many drafts as you can. Also, locking doors can sometimes make the seal tighter and keep more heat in.
