Spotted an usual bird while I was out with the dog this morning. It was resting at the edge of the running track. Is it native to Northumberland? (Apologies for the grainy photo, only had my phone and couldn't get closer.)
Not only is this a lovely local cinema, it's also at the top of my street. It would be great to see it getting a well overdue restoration.

Commuting by train again, because I'm out after work and the motorbike would make that too complicated, especially given the weather.
Feeling slightly pleased with myself because I've saved a whole 80p by remembering that I know which trains I'll be getting, and hence can buy an advance ticket. (Also, 80p less to Northern Rail, which is even better.)
The 7th century crypt at Hexham Abbey in Northumberland. The crypt is the only surviving part of St. Wilfrid’s original church. 
The dog's been walked and the rugby's on the telly.

* Bass banjo: essentially a bass guitar neck bolted to a small bass drum, with a floating bridge and an adjustable foot. Bass guitar tuning, but played upright like a double bass, either sitting or standing

Apparently Fore Street in Hexham is closed due to tiles and coping stones coming off buildings. Stay safe out there, people.
A bit of snow isn't going to stop me lying down for a good stick chewing… but what was that noise?

Weekends are hard work. And also several days shorter than they ought to be.
Also: no pork scratchings, no peanuts, had to make do with crisps. Nowhere near enough protein!
