I've had my miyoo mini plus for some months now after Joel convinced me to get it, and I've been using it almost every day since, playing some games that I didn't get around to before, it's wonderful for getting some relaxation in in the weekend, and since I've been mostly emulating handheld games the games aren't that complex and it's a nice way to wind down in the evening or to play when watching some youtube, or listening to podcasts.

The device is solid, feels good, and has just really reawakened my enjoyment of old games and emulation, it's been really nice :)

Some people may not know this but I have created a bunch of overlays to be used in Retroarch on modern Retro Handhelds. The ones that come with retroarch by default usually aren't designed for these low screen resolutions.

They should work with many of the most popular handhelds like the 35xx devices or miyoo minis.

Because I'm ancient, I completely missed the 90s #Pokemon thing. I was transitioning from Playstation to PC at the time, and old Gameboy stuff seemed... old.

But I see so much nostalgia for the franchise in retrogaming forums. Pokemon games seem to be the games people most want to play when they fire up their new #MiyooMini or #Anbernic device.

And I'm kinda jealous...

So I've decided to give a Pokemon game a real go. #FireRed on the #GBA is my game of choice, hope it lives up to the hype!

A recent copy of Retro Gamer highlighted Sega's Shinobi III on the #MegaDrive from 1993.

The first Shinobi game is an arcade staple from the late 80s - extremely popular, and for good reason. It's a firm favourite of mine from both back in the day and more recently on MAME.

The sequel, Revenge of Shinobi, was an early #MegaDrive exclusive and I think it's a classic.

I'd never played Shinobi III though and thought I'd give it a whirl on my #MiyooMini

It's great! Tight controls, better combat skills, more varied level types - they improved everything.

Sega WikiShinobi III: Return of the Ninja MasterShinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master, also known as The Super Shinobi II in Japan, is an action game developed and published by Sega for the Mega Drive/Genesis console that was released in 1993. It is the direct sequel of the 1989 game The Revenge of Shinobi. Many regard it as the best game of the Shinobi series, due to its high quality visuals and fast, varied gameplay. The game was originally intended to be released in 1992, and to be very different from the final version of the game in ter

Received a Miyoo Mini Plus for my birthday a few weeks ago and I've been tuning it to perfection since then.

The fact is that I spend more time faffing about with these kinds of emulation devices than I do playing them.

I installed the preferred OS, OnionOS, refined the list of games to my Best Of, tuned my favourites list and am now scraping artwork for the selection menu.

There's still a bit more to do until it's in optimal running order but it's been fun and distracting getting it this far.

It's clear to me now that owning just a single #retrohandheld is not realistic. It's more sensible to own ALL of them.

But how do you seamlessly move between them, keeping your saves and states?

Enter "Syncthing": syncthing.net/

Syncthing is available just about everywhere and keeps folders in sync between devices. I've just spent a few days getting this configured on my devices and it works (mostly) great!
