I Will Do the Right Thing

As mentioned in a post last night, I have decided to do the right thing today. What’s with the cryptic shit, Rob? Oh nothing, never mind. I am going to eat some lunch and then put on a nice shirt and then drive south for an hour and a half.

The only question left is, do I start a new audiobook or do I listen to music, and if I listen to music what should I listen to? I have been listening to a lot of King’s X lately. I have a playlist that skips over the song or two from each record that I don’t like, including the occasional super christian lyric. Musically speaking, King’s X might be the best band that has ever existed. Lyrically… there are a lot of things that rub me the wrong way. Fortunately for me, I have always been a music first, lyrics a distant second kind of listener so I can deal with it.

I have also been listening to a lot of Genesis stuff lately. If I spend three hours in the car round trip, I could listen to Supper’s Ready like… eight times? Almost nine times?

I don’t know… maybe I’ll listen to the Red Sox game. They are playing a day/night doubleheader today after getting rained out yesterday.

You know what? I had a point I wanted to make when I started typing this masterpiece, but I can’t remember what it was. I know for sure that I haven’t touched the intended topic at all… what was I going to write about? I don’t know. Lunch is ready. I’m going to eat it and then go. Wish me luck.

#OffTopic Puh, was für eine Arbeitswoche (nach einem tollen #PnPde Wochenende)… ok, gestern war der erst Streik an der Uni seit den 1960er Jahren recht erfolgreich, hat aber leider zur Folge, dass diese Woche noch Einiges zu erledigen ist. Das hat aber vor allem auch damit zu tun, dass das aktuelle Quartile zu Ende geht - und da stapelt sich eh so einiges.

My mom got an email from Sky telling her she should get a new sky box for free. Unbeknownst to me she replies and in a few days she get a new sky box in the mail. She calls me up and I set it up for her. It requires a login to the wifi so it can update itself so I do that. Then it wants a google login because who knows why so I skip that part. After about a half hour to 45 minutes it’s done. I package up the old box and drop it off for mailing. My mom tries to use it and it’s a disaster. The TV listing is really small and she can’t read it. I look around in the settings and there is no way to make the fonts bigger so she basically had to stand up, walk closer to the TV to be able to change channels. Then she is having with the tiny remote and the stupid wheel thingie. I write a support email asking how to make the fonts bigger but hear nothing back. After a couple of days of hearing my mom complain constantly I try the chat support. After waiting a long while I get connected to a person whose name is spelled weird but the chat disconnects before the issue is resolved. I try again and keep getting connected to weird name spellings and keep getting disconnected. I then call support to find out that there are 21 people waiting in front of me so I hunker down and after about half an hour I finally get connected to somebody. After going back and forth for a while sky agrees to send another old box to my mom so she can get back to being able to watch TV and use the remote. Enshittification.

Me sale como que tu toot está en inglés, pues el reconocimiento de idioma de Masto es más manual, posiblemente tu instancia tiene Inglés por default.
