Having watch faces be directly coded into the firmware has to be one of the dumbest things about the #PineTime watch. Who the fuck thought that was a good idea?? You shouldn't have to recompile the entire firmware just to change the background image!
Also there is no way to do ANY customization at all without editing the source code directly and recompiling it. WHY??

PineTime, a $30 Open Source Smartwatch
When I had my #PineTime, I found other users on the github to be really helpful, and would offer alternate builds with better readability if I asked around. :D
That was a couple years and several versions ago, so it might be fine for you. I found it a little hard to read notifications at the time.
Thursday 08:47
Busy morning of activating & updating the firmware of my brand new #PineTime watch, and cooked up a hot breakfast with my #Coffee.
Looking forward to a productive day at the #FoodBank, including ordering loads of Fresh Produce for April, and updating my purchase paperwork.
Last evening Arianna & enjoyed food & fellowship at our local church Growth Group, hosted by a family in the next neighbourhood.
Tonight I shall be virtually attending a Men's D-Group. Great bunch of guys. https://mycpointe.com/dgroups/
Keep on taking care of yourself, and those around you.

Life is good my friends.
Yesterday I arrived home from work to 2 delivered packages that Arianna had taken into the house for me.
a) A boxed #PineTime #SmartWatch. It is currently still boxed, as I have not yet gotten around to opening it. Last evening I basically napped, had my supper, worked on an allocated #MissionAssist #Bible chapter, then bed.
b) A book: The 40 Day Discipleship Journey. This is the course that my CenterPointe Christian Church leadership are taking, and it was introduced to the Men's Group on Sunday afternoon. I ordered immediately, as Pastor Ethan is witness to! I hope to start this course soon.
Today at the #FoodBank, my main responsibility is to order dry packed Fruit & Vegetables for seniors, as part of the #USDA #CSFP program. I shall be ordering a year's worth, taking our future orders from 2026 to 2027.
Talking of future planning, it is now #Turkey season, with the vendors starting to submit their delivered pricing for #Thanksgiving 2025. By the end of this week, I should be informed by our own TX planning committee how many birds to order this year.
Also this week, I shall be ordering our mixed truckloads of Fresh Produce to be delivered to our 4 KY locations in April 2025. #FreshProduce
Told you that life is good, and I absolutely love my job. (Always wishing though that there was no need for my job.)
Other plans for today:
1) At 15:00 I hope to join MissionAssist on #Zoom for their monthly #prayer time. They are British based, so 19:00 for them, but since Sunday's Spring Forward I am now an hour closer. I should be joining them from my work office with closed door. https://missionassist.org.uk/
2) After work I look forward to being at #Villainous Gaming Pub for about 17:00. This is your weekly local reminder to come on out and join me. If you make it out, great, but I know I shall have a great time hanging out anyway. https://villainous.club/
The Kettle was on for my first #Coffee of the day.
I probably now need to re-boil the water!
Thinking I shall have Fresh #Raspberries with #Yogurt for breakfast.
Life is busy, and full of adventure.
How is your day? - I'm really asking!

I've been on lemmy a lot lately, so I haven't posted anything here for a while. I had a work trip this past week and spent it with somebody that was much more privacy conscious than I am. After a few concerning news articles and talking with him, I decided to get back on #grapheneos with my #pinetime as my smart watch.
Ordered a PineTime SmartWatch.

I've bought a #Bangle.js 2 at #FOSDEM, I like it!
I've charged it once just after FOSDEM (on Sunday), and it still shows 40% of battery, screen is sun readable, and several useful sensors.
Being a #Python dev, I was more into micropython (I have a #PineTime with #WaspOS). But the #espruino tool chain is really nice: 600+ apps easy to upload from browser (sadly not supported by Firefox), simple IDE with REPL, and CLI tools. I can use Python on computer with #javascript on watch.
Neat work!
To be very clear: #InfiniTime is an amazing project, and the #PineTime is the closest analog to an Opensource Pebble I could find.
But an opensource Pebble is pretty much unbeatable for me.
So almost 24 hours after enabling always on display on my #pinetime the battery is down to near 50%. Not too bad, considering the PineTime was never made for this.
