Thinking about Scott Riley's #sotb2025 talk. How mindful design respects user competency, autonomy, and relatedness. Points that are all very relevant to project design in citizen science too.
Here's the web site for Scott's book and design toolkit:

I want to shoutout @dletorey for his incredible support! Not only did he put on one of the best tech conferences in London this weekend*, but he also shouted me out on stage encouraging folks to donate to me.
& someone gave me £100!!!
Thanks Dave for the verbal support & Stephanie for the financial support! Both help me continue this work.
You too can help me out: https://give.lolaslab.co
* #SotB2025 was awesome & you should deffo keep an eye out for videos as they drop
If you were with me over breaks during #SotB2025 and I was trying to remember an old comedian who talked funny, turns out it was Professor Stanley Unwin, who spoke his own special "Unwinese":

I think he's just fallen out of the collective British memory - he spoke in a jolly and silly sort of way which sounded like it should be fully understandable, but wasn't.
Or, sometimes it was complete nonsense but you knew exactly what he meant!
Lovely to see everyone on Saturday at #SotB2025. Already looking forward to seeing you all again next year.
I forgot my keys when I went to #SOTB2025. I ended up having a very south London experience while waiting for my wife to get home — sitting on the kerb and making eye contact with a passing fox while eating fried chicken.
Had a great time at #SotB2025 yesterday, I am just about ready to collapse into a puddle now though
My thoughts after attending “State of the Browser” (#sotb2025) in London. https://marcthiele.com/notes/my-thoughts-after-state-of-the-browser
An ace summary of my talk by @lurkmoophy - he posted it and the ones for other #SotB2025 talks to his Bluesky account: https://bsky.app/profile/lurkmoophy.bsky.social
By the way, Google lens did a great job here of recognising the text, I didn't have a lot to clean up for the alt text! Please let me know if the all caps is problematic, though.
State of the Browser has only confirmed how much I love smaller, community-driven developer events.
We can't all afford to fund a diversity ticket or be a sponsor, but we can help by Buying Tickets Early!
Especially for the events not geared to people with education budgets from big companies.
Buy early, help them budget, keep them afloat
I’m crying reading all the wonderful comments about #SotB2025
Thank you everyone who was part of it.
State of the Browser was wonderful! Thank you so much @dletorey and team! I'm definitely returning as an attendee and/or sponsor!
If you're tired of multi-track corporate events and looking for a lovely community event @webstandards State of the Browser is what you need! #sotb2025
