#Trump is preparing to deport a 2nd group of #Venezuelan #immigrants under a rarely used #wartime authority that has for weeks put the admin in a tense showdown w/the #judiciary, acc/to an emergency legal filing.
The men in the govt’s custody have been transferred from across the country to the Bluebonnet Detention Center in #Texas, in the past 2 days & were told they are at imminent risk of being deported using the #AlienEnemiesAct, per the #ACLU & written declarations by the men’s attys.

We are past the point of a Constitutional Crisis, they are ignoring judges rulings left and right. In this case, the planes were supposed to turn back. But the White House circulated a post bragging about them flouting the courts, so it's not any mistake. Impeachment must follow, but we all know it won't.

…Even w/ #Trump’s early #ExecutiveOrders, his admin has to contend w/overwhelmed #immigration courts where #asylum cases can take years. Trump expanded a fast-track #deportation process known as expedited removal, but it only applies to those in the US for 2yrs or less & gives migrants the ability to claim asylum.

The #AlienEnemiesAct could allow Trump to rapidly #deport migrants deemed part of an "invasion or predatory incursion"-a novel use of a #law previously only invoked in #wartime.
