Dustin Wilson<p>I'm putting feelers out looking for a job. I know it's a tall order considering what happened Tuesday. My current job isn't likely to survive the tariffs, and things have been looking dicey for a bit now anyway. I was a graphic designer for 20 years, but I've been a data manager for business intelligence analytics for a retail company for almost 3 years now. I had to change careers to afford to live, but I'm willing to take anything that involves graphic design, ye olde fuddy duddy web development, php, SQL (especially Snowflake), dbt, S3, ETL, etc. I even wrote my own ETL tool in php for handling data from APIs to S3 then to Snowflake because what we were using didn't have connectors for all our vendors. I've done a bit of everything. Remote, if possible, but I'd be willing to move for the right job especially if it's in the Toronto area. Please share. WildRikku<p>Pretty satisfied with how my portfolio on Itch is coming along. I think I won't invest time in my self-hosted website in the near future. I don't have anything complex to present and it's just a lot of work. When I was a web developer it was a showcase of my skills but that's no longer what I do, so Itch should be fine and it's even okay on mobile.</p><p>Next up is GitHub. lee - no pronouns :v_greyace:<p>So for those who haven't seen, I've recently got a job as a Stadium Tour Guide! I've already been working as a carer for 4+ years, but am wanting to get out of care. I'm also on benefits, so want to eventually earn enough money to get off the benefits. As well as this, my tour guide job is a 0 hour contract and I'm hoping to eventually get a job in hospitality to replace my job as a carer. </p><p>This leads me to my question - how long should I be at this tour guide job to build up experience before I apply for a new job? I'm simply thinking about what a good amount of experience to have would be, nothing else here. Aaron Longchamps<p>I'm in the job market and looking for opportunities starting in January 2024.</p><p>My background is primarily VMware/Windows, but I've also worked with Ansible, Azure, Entra ID, PowerShell scripting/automation, Kubernetes, syslog logging, monitoring, and incident response (system outages, not security related). I am interested in moving into security since I think it's a fascinating industry.</p><p>In my spare time, I have a homelab where I am working through the Practical Threat Intelligence and Data-Driven Threat Hunting book. This has included setting up a vCenter, Domain Controller, windows VM, and HELK stack on Ubuntu. JordiGH<p>I have received a negative response from one company that did a final round interview with me at the end of August. That was a long time to receive news, but at least that removes a lot of uncertainty I was facing.</p><p>It also means that this is no time to get complacent and that I need to continue my job search with renewed energy. Figured I'd give this a shot

I'm seeking employment in the software space to start immediately after graduation spring 2024
I have a BS in software engineering already and will have a MS in computer engineering by the time I've graduated

I have had internships in Android app development and react/azure fullstack web development
I also have special interest in UI/UX, embedded C, and databases

My soft skills are excellent as well
I am extroverted and sociable yet easygoing and not overly competitive

I'm trying to escape Iowa's anti-trans legislation and move to Chicago where i have supportive friends and family, so I'm looking for a job there, but a remote job will do the trick as well

If anyone can land me a referral or point me in a good direction, I'd massively appreciate it!

I have no professional experience in gaming, but I do have some part-time professional experience in VR for research and I was lead programmer on a gamejam project with a crew of 10.
