Swatching! Why?
For my elderly roommate here at the nursing home, who spends most of her time curled up in a ball under blankets, isolated.
I offered to knit her slippers. These will be the Nordic Slippers, a simple pattern with lace detail at the ankle. Yellow is her fave color, and I sourced this gorgeous yarn in stash. No band, but it feels like wool - very expensive wool! Deserving!

A wonderfully compassionate gesture 
@TCMuffin A lot of the people here don't even have clothing, they just wear a hospital gown. It's really sad.
I have a new personal knitting policy - No pearls to swine. I am only knitting gifts for the very deserving, who will appreciate it! And I plan to always have a minimum of two WIPs going - one for me, one for a gift.
