I never really did an #introduction, just jumped in and never went back to Xitter.
A bit of an explanation now - I've transplanted to #Kobe #Japan from #Pittsburgh for my #ProfLife 4 month Fall sabbatical - with my family!
We #Homeschool our kids, so this worked out well (next yr Kid1 will head to college - last opportunity for this sort of adventure, so I snatched it). Wish me luck!
Thanks all who follow or just come across & boost - you mastofriends have all been gracious and kind!
Mostly I'll post (as I am typically wont to) about #food #drink #cooking
I'm a compulsive documenter, so there'll be #Travel #photography I hope to get my fill of #Japan and share a slightly different perspective - not just touristy (you'll get that too, don't worry).
Last time I was here in Japan with my partner was 2016 for 2 weeks (kids stayed behind - with partners visiting parents, in Pittsburgh). We have all so wanted to come (back) here.
I'll use #DasInKobe tag too

A re- or perhaps de- introduction especially for so many new followers - I'm back to my usual beat in Pittsburgh; done with an amazing time in #Japan
Still so much to share about that - which I will anon. I'll do so with #DiJP if that helps to filter (in or out).
I can never tell what may be to your interest and not offended if you unfollow.
For now some pics from the trip; among my favs, one kid2 took of me in Asakusa (didn't touch the waraji, but hey look at that 50+ yo form!)
Cheers!

@SRDas awesome photos!!
@SRDas enjoy Japan - what a chance to immerse yourselves in a culture.
@lacouvee thanks! Yes - indeed, we are relishing our time here.
@SRDas my late husband was a judoka, we knew many Japanese people, and dreamed of living in Japan. So much so that I studied Japanese for 3 years. (lost all of it).
@lacouvee oh thats amazing that you took up Japanese. I started learning the script in Feb or so and got to learning hiragana and katakana in a couple of months but stalled after that and stopped. I should get back to it.
I hope that you get to visit and stay in Japan a bit - I'm sure your language skills will resurface quick
@SRDas at the time I worked in the hospitality industry and we had a lot of Japanese tourists - it made sense. Having the three writing systems makes it a challenge.
@SRDas Kobe so polite, so clean away from the evil Joywater
@SRDas have the best time!
@KarimTrip thank you!
@SRDas I'm quite interested in following your sabbatical experience in Kobe.
We returned from Australia this year & are considering Japan for the next opportunity when the kids are older.
@Sheril it's terrific. I lucked out on a JSPS (long term) fellowship and timing with kids. Check dates on JSPS if you are thinking about it. And am happy to provide any pointers if you need!
@SRDas Thank you! This looks interesting and very helpful. I will certainly reach out as we think more seriously on this. I hope you have a wonderful experience!
@SRDas What a great experience! Happy you took advantage of the opportunity while is was there.
