Want to know more about the change from K-9 Mail to Thunderbird for Android? We're answering your questions - three of them, anyway - in this latest installation of Heise.de's "Three Questions and Answers" series!
@thunderbird one little question from me: how come Thunderbird for Android has telemetry that goes to Google Firebase and there is no option in the settings that I could find that disables this?
Edit: I found out that it was coming from the Google OAuth login, Thunderbird's telemetry can be disabled from the settings but I don't have that toggle because I'm using the F-Droid version which removes telemetry entirely.
@gianmarcogg03 @thunderbird really!? Wow!
@thunderbird i use K9-Mail on Android since ... forever ;) Is the Thunderbird for Android App from the same develeopers as K9? Does it make sense to switch apps? Why do both Clients coexist if Thunderbird for Android is based on K9 and Changes from Thunderbird get included into K9?
if someone has quick answers i'd appreciate it
@IchEben @thunderbird because there are some people want to use K9 than use Thunderbird, or prefer to see K9 icon than Thunderbird.
I don't think there are any different between the two, so switch or not is up to which icon you want to see on homescreen. The switch is easy too and iirc, don't require re-authentication.
@IchEben @thunderbird As I understood it, K9 became Thunderbird Mobile. But for all the K9 users that don't want to give up the nice old RoboDog they still maintain a K9-build ...
thanks, as long as the features are the same i'm tempted to stay on k9 ... RoboDoggy it is for me
@IchEben @thunderbird I have the same questions.
