3) What does an Irish #ShotPut record look like?

Less than a week after we recorded our latest podcast episode with Eric Favors who hails from Rockland Count in #NewYork, he rewrote the record books with a throw of 20.93 meters or 68' 8".

Remember, the ball Eric is throwing is 16 lbs or 7.25 KG. That's the same weight as the big ball at your local bowling alley!!

The #ShotPut and #TrackAndField brought me to #NYC on athletics scholarship. In some respects, Eric’s story of an American born man with #IrishHeritage is playing in reverse.

That said Eric is far more talented than I was and will likely represent #Ireland at this year’s #Olympics

The first of nine days of competition in the 2023 World Championships in #athletics ( #TrackAndField to some) just wrapped up in Budapest. #TheNetherlands lost two medals from women falling within meters of the finish. (WTF?!?) Ryan Crouser put a shot within 5cm of his own World Record mark for his second title (to go with his two Olympic golds) in the #ShotPut. #WorldRecord in the mixed relay. There are legit issues with #sportwashing etc but this is good stuff: worldathletics.org/competition
