On a whim, got a cheap seat to ‘Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake’ which is currently in town (the all male swans version / ‘gay Swan Lake’). It was great: gay, tragic, great dancing, lots of dancing swans. I rate it #southampton #theatre #SwanLake

Let’s talk about swans – the graceful, majestic creatures that glide effortlessly across the water.

Did you know what it's called in Hebrew?
And here’s a fun fact:
The famous Swan Lake translates to /a-'gam ha-bar-boo-'reem/ אגם הברבורים in Hebrew – a perfect blend of /a-'gam/ (lake) and /ha-bar-boo-'reem/ (the swans).
Whether you’re a fan of Tchaikovsky or just love the beauty of swans, this phrase brings it all together in a uniquely Hebrew way.
Ah, #SwanLake with a happy ending.
Enjoyed that. Preferred the performance we saw in St Petersburg for its intimacy and the set design which really added a lot plus we had second row seats and champagne at the interval, which was always going to help. But, great quality performance, even if you really need to know the story beforehand, and it helps to have seen it in real life to appreciate the leaping, banging, and thundering hits on the floor. Ridiculously energetic.
Having a high-brow Christmas Day afternoon. They're showing #SwanLake on BBC2 and we're not really ballet or opera people but we have seen this performed in Russia many years ago so we figure we can compare performances and pretend we're cultured.
In November 1995, Matthew Bourne's "Swan Lake" premiered in London. A version of the ballet where the swans were played by men, it became the longest running full-length dance show in the West End and on Broadway, winning Olivier and Tony awards. @BBCNews talked to Bourne as the show embarks on a tour to celebrate its 30th anniversary about telling a gay story 20 years before equal marriage, whether it's musical theater, and the connection to the divorce of Charles and Diana.
