Yes, there are questions that science can’t *yet* answer. But to “leave room for spirituality or religion” is the classic “God of the Gaps” move in which gaps in our current knowledge are filled by “God did it,” which really doesn’t hold any explanatory power—it’s simply a placeholder for what we don’t yet understand. A perfect illustration is the rainbow. These days, no one except the heavily indoctrinated believe that God sends rainbows.

There's a difference between an evidence-based search for a truth you don't possess and wishing that an unproven idea you have would be true.
The first method doesn't reach a conclusion until the evidence is tested, and the second starts with a conclusion and works backwards, which can't reliably lead to truth.
