caught some MAJOR drama on the milkweed today. i was trying to take a picture of this cute ass candy striped leaf hopper and then BAM! ant! hahaha i thought it was cool that i caught this little interaction. macro is so fun

a black ant steps off the main stem of a milkweed plant onto a leaf in the foreground. one leg still on the stem she looks around. but she is not alone on the leaf, no there’s a bright red, blue, and yellow leaf hopper already there in the background. continuing...
she approaches the leaf hopper head on. they are face to face now. continuing...
she rears up over the head of the hopper and looks as if she is biting its neck! is she trying to eat the hopper? just telling it to fuck off?? continuing...
well either way, the end result was the hopper hopping away very quickly! now she is seen in blurred motion, running after the hopper as if to say "and stay out!!"
