A couple of years ago I fell out with #gmail and migrated to https://privateemail.com

I've now fallen out with privateemail and decided to selfhost (again).

Now running #postfix, #dovecot, #rspamd and others via docker-mailserver. Had to use #smtp2go for outbound due to relay issues.

Also selfhosting #radicale for calendar/contacts and #immich for photos.

So far so good ... seems faster than I had before plus #opensource. Need to let it bed in a bit and keep an eye out for errors.

NixSpam DNSBL von Heise / Manitu ist nach einer grace period nicht länger im Service und gibt nun Fehlercodes zurück. Entfernt ix.dnsbl.manitu.net aus euren MTA-Konfigurationen.

I'm playing with #rspamd and seeking a solution. Can I have matching IP/prefixes in the mapping file instead of statically setting them in configuration for custom settings? Does anyone have any clues? #smtp #mailfiltering

Nachdem ich schon wirklich häufig von Leuten von Problemen und Unklarheiten bei @team #manitu gehört habe (oder helfen musste), heute mal selber betroffen.

Ohne Vorankündigung eine breit genutze dns Blacklist schließen und weniger als einen Monat danach ABUSEreports versenden. Die Liste ist bspw. in den Paketen von #rspamd standardmäßig mit drin.

Also erstmal hundertausende Serverbetreiber*innen mit Abusereports nerven, statt die Entfernung aus den Packages abzuwarten...

Null Verständnis

I have just discovered that #Rspamd 3.9 added support for #LLM - documented GPT-3.5 and GPT-4o, but I suppose any other OpenAI will work. You do need an OpenAI API key.

Cost for a personal email server will be marginal, as Rspamd only consults LLM when other modules have doubts.

In the other news, if you use #phishing module in Rspamd you probably need to add explicit openphish_map option because for me the default OpenPhish map URL doesn’t work as it’s now a 302 redirect to GitHub and Rspamd refuses to follow it:

#Linux/ #Gnome's #Evolution email client is blowing #Thunderbird out of the water when it comes to #SPAM and #Junk #Mail classification.

This is purely anecdotal but when I was running #Thunderbird, I'd get up every morning and have to manually flag messages as SPAM in my Inbox and move messages to my Junk folder (and the reverse!)

I use a #SelfHosted #MailCow VPS for my email, as well as the Email for my Company and domains.

MailCow uses #rspamd for it's SPAM detection, and it's usually very good, and rspamd adds a bunch of headers to your Email message about what the current SPAM status is for the message.

For some reason Thunderbird wasn't doing that great of a job deciphering those headers for something that might have been SPAM but ended up in my Inbox none-the-less.

Still, manually moving messages into Junk had the added benefit of continuing to train rspamd about what was SPAM and what wasn't.

Fast-forward to Evolution.

For the second morning in the row I haven't had to manually move any messages from my Inbox into Junk in the morning. Evolution (along with rspamd) has completely taken care of my Junk mail problem.

It's super early so not sure if this good pattern of Junk mail classification will keep up, but it's a pleasant start.

I would gladly pay money for a Windows native port of Evolution. If Evolution ever made its way onto Windows it would blow #Outlook out of the fucking water.

Mein RSPAMD schmeißt in den letzten Tagen sehr viele false positive durch RBL_SENDERSCORE. Teilweise sind die IPs tatsächlich dort gelistet, teilweise nicht. DNS Anfrage werden lokal gecached.

Überlege nun Senderscore auszunehmen.

I've been running my own #email servers for over two decades now, with spurts of enthusiasm and improvement. The last project has been to run the various software parts in immutable containers on #Kubernetes, and I'm quite happy with the result. I do see a decline in requests for hosted accounts on personal domains, as friends and family seem to settle with accounts on major providers like Gmail. I'm not going to throw in the towel though. Self hosted for the win!

For the curious, my stack is #Postfix, #Rspamd, #Dovecot and #Roundcube for those who prefer webmail over a native client like #Thunderbird or #K9mail. #Sieve for automatically organizing mail in the proper folders. Used to run #PostfixAdmin, but was unhappy with it, so I wrote my own API in Go to edit accounts, mailboxes and aliases. Never got around to write a frontend, but it was a Swagger interface, so..

So, jetzt habe ich einmal alle Teile meines helm-Charts für einen kompletten Mailserver zusammengesetzt (#postfix, #dovecot, #rspamd und #roundcubemail). Als nächstes: alles so konfigurierbar machen, dass es nicht nur auf meinem Testcluster funktioniert.
